The May 6th elections saw both Labour MPs returned with increased majorities and 35 of the borough's 48 councillors are now Labour.

 Islington schools’ GCSE results are up this year, but our borough is still bottom of the inner-London league table. The improvement come after hard work by schools and pupils, helped by millions of pounds of investment in new school buildings, equipment and extra teachers from the Government.
