Councillor Michelline Safi Ngongo

Michelline has been a councillor for Hillrise ward since 2014, and arrived in Islington as a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Michelline established the Light Project Pro International (LPPI) charity, based in Islington, in 2004 and previously served as chair of the Islington Refugee Forum (IRF). Michelline is also a school governor at Ashmount Primary School, and actively involved with many cross cultural community organisations. Michelline is the Executive Member for Children, Young People and Families.

Councillor Marian Spall

Marian was first elected as a Hillrise ward councillor in 2010 and was born and raised in Islington. Marian has been volunteering for her community for over 30 years, including on neighbourhood forums and as a youth worker. She has been presented with the Mayors Civic Award and the National Federation for Youth Clubs Bronze award in recognition of her contribution to youth activities in Islington. In her spare time Marian is studying for diploma in mindfulness, and enjoys spending time with her family. She is the current Mayor of Islington.
