Your Islington Labour Team
Islington Labour is on the side of local people and is making a difference for you on the issues that matter most.
Islington is a wonderful place, but despite its affluent image, we know that too many people struggle to enjoy decent housing, are out of work and do not have the same chances in life as others. That is why we are committed to making our borough a fairer place for all.
Islington Labour was elected in 2010 to lead Islington Council to make a difference on the issues that matter most to local people. We were re-elected in 2014, and again in 2018, and again in 2022.
We are proud that we have –
- Supported over 5,500 local people into jobs since 2014, including 1,500 young people.
- By 2020, we will have delivered 2,200 new homes for social rent, including building the largest number of new council homes in Islington for over 30 years.
- Supported young people to get the best start in life, with Islington now ranking in the top 20 in the country for boosting pupils’ attainment, whereas in 2008 the borough ranked in the bottom 20 local authorities for its GCSE results.
Islington is represented by one Labour Member of Parliament, 44 Labour councillors on Islington Council, the Labour Mayor of London and one member of the Greater London Assembly (GLA).
