This weekend we saw people from all around the world come to Islington in celebration of Arsenal. This was a fantastic event that filled the borough with huge joy and celebrations, and we are delighted to see everyone come together.
Now that the parade is over, we wanted to take a moment to thank all the staff that helped make it happen and thank Arsenal itself for funding the whole operation. Arsenal worked closely with the council to help fund and organise the whole event, ensuring that the council, local services, and local businesses remained informed.
Despite, over a million people in attendance there were no major incidents or disruptions. This is down to the tireless work of our council staff who worked the event. As it was the first parade the council were able to put on in 22 years, they were fared extremely well in exceptional circumstances.
As life in Islington returns to normal the staff are continuing to go above and beyond to clear up the aftermath and restore our streets to their standards. It has been great to see staff, councillors, and residents show their civic pride and pitch in to help where they can.
As we progress into the final stages of clear up, we hope that everyone can take newfound sense of civic pride both in our dedicated council workers and see our fantastic streets in a new light.
