New proposals would see drastic cuts to the 259 through Islington, including:

  • Changing the start/termination of the 259 from King’s Cross to Holloway Road Nag’s Head, cutting out a significant proportion of the journey
  • Move vital bus stops to access the route across the Holloway road, making access more difficult for higher needs passengers.

These proposals reflect a poor lack of planning on behalf of TfL.

Pre-existing delays and unreliable services would be pushed onto other routes as services are cut. This vital route through Islington would become inaccessible when passengers are forced to make connecting buses to reach their destination. As we tackle the climate emergency, the importance of a well-resourced public transport network will only grow.

It is vital that our bus services remain as accessible and well-planned to ensure that the services continue to work for residents.

That’s why we’re calling on the Mayor of London to reverse his decision to cut the vital bus routes.
