Statement from Islington Labour
Statement from Islington Labour

Today we commemorate the anniversary of the Finsbury Park terror attack and mourn the loss of Makram Ali, a cherished father, grandfather, husband and friend. Many of our community in Islington are still faced with the grief, loss and trauma of this day.

We stand in solidarity with our Muslim communities in Islington and beyond, who continue to face high levels of Islamophobia in our society. We will never cease our efforts to counter hatred and to promote unity, peace and tolerance with one another.

Where the attack sought to create division and fear, it failed. Instead Islington came together stronger in solidarity, compassion, and shared purpose. We value our diverse communities that make Islington so special.

Together we can continue to work together to ensure that our borough is one where hate, violence and terror have no place in Islington.
